Britannia, a replica of the hull of King George V's J-Class yacht, was captured on camera as the hull arrived under tow from Norway into East Cowes on the Isle of Wight.

Cowes-based marine photographer Hamo Thornycroft told us: "It is great to look across from Cowes to see Britannia dominating the pontoons at South Boats.

"I met the tug Danasund towing Britannia from Norway just as she reached the Nab Tower on Saturday (4 February).

"I was also lucky that I reached them in sunshine before the clouds rolled over preceding the rain which greeted her arrival off Cowes!"

The other boats in the photos are the tug Danasund, one of the South Boats offshore support catamarans, and the ex-Penlee lifeboat.

The hull is now owned by the Britannia Trust which has formulated plans to restore Britannia and use her as a flagship for charitable purposes.
